Welcome to Atlantic Avenue Elementary

Message for Principal Ormsby:

Welcome 2019!  I hope everyone had a wonderful break and got their needed rest.
During the month of January, the students will be assessed in all areas.  We will be looking at the data to measure progress and the direction that will be taken to ensure that more progress is to be gained.

This month, the students and staff will begin with their whole school "Community Service Project".  More information will be coming about their chosen project and how they will accomplish their goal.

Our student council will be gearing up and planning for the school talent shows.  I am sure you will be hearing more about that soon from our student council coordinators.
The planning is complete and some construction has started for the new vestibules at Atlantic and Seventh Avenue School.  We have also added a few more cameras and will be adding more in the near future.  Security of our schools is always being addressed and we will assess ways to improve.

Just a reminder that School is closed on January 21, 2019 for Martin Luther King Day.

Have a great month of January!

Atlantic Avenue School Community Service Project

Atlantic Avenue School's community service project will benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Camden, NJ.  The Ronald McDonald House was built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. When a child is hospitalized, the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed. (https://ronaldhouse-snj.org/who-we-are/).   With that said, the staff has already designated an evening in February to purchase, prepare, and serve dinner for the families staying at the House.  The contributions from the students will tie into the evening of service perfectly.  Classes will make and donate family welcome bags and snack packs for kids.  They will write letters to children and parents that stay at the Ronald McDonald House and make place-mats for residents to use while they dine.  Atlantic Avenue School is excited about the possibilities to help this worthy cause.  More information will be sent out to the parents and guardians in the near future.

Atlantic Avenue School is located at 21 East Atlantic Avenue in Haddon Heights, New Jersey.  Mr. Christopher Ormsby is the Principal. He can be contacted by email at ormsbyc@hhsd.k12.nj.us or reached by phone at (856) 547-0630. Approximately 150 students in grades Pre-K through Sixth attend Atlantic Avenue School.
